A global view of education and social transformation
Worktable 4 of the pre-congress discussed the global challenges of education from the perspective of Popular Education and social transformation. To energize this dialogue, experts were invited, such as Sylvia Schmelkes, who highlighted educational inequity and the role of Fe y Alegría in promoting inclusive education; Nelsy Lizarazo, who stressed the importance of advocacy and state funding; and Jairo Cifuentes, who spoke about the global education pact and its focus on social justice. We worked with the national directors at the National Directors’ Council in Panama in March 2024. This dialogue sought to find assertive proposals to close educational gaps and improve educational quality through comprehensive and articulated responses.

The worktable 4 of the Fe y Alegría Pre-Congress addresses the global challenges of education, with a focus on social transformation from Popular and Intercultural Education, seeking strategies that mobilize educational institutions and promote equitable development. An international analysis table at the National Board of Directors , with experts such as Sylvia Schmelkes, Nelsy Lizarazo and Jairo H. Cifuentes Madrid, sets the basis for the work. The methodology, which includes presentations, group work and plenary, is designed to identify key challenges and their impact on the community, ensuring that Fe y Alegría moves towards inclusive and high quality education.

Global Education Challenges from the perspective of Fe y Alegría
Fe y Alegría addresses the global challenges of education from the perspective of popular education. The importance of confronting educational inequity, promoting inclusive education and guaranteeing adequate financing by the states was highlighted. In addition, the Global Education Pact and the need for a comprehensive approach that includes social justice and care for the environment were discussed. This dialogue seeks to define concrete actions to close educational gaps worldwide.

The global challenges of education from the perspective of Popular Education in Fe y Alegría, the table addresses issues such as educational gaps, inequality, school dropout, violence, illiteracy and digital divides. Educational rights focused on inclusion, equity, quality, connection with life, social-emotional health and education for peace are emphasized. It also discusses the transformation of educational management, pedagogy, and public action, highlighting sustainability, job training and educational continuity. In addition, the importance of an own educational model and the incidence in public policies through global networks is highlighted.
